About Axiom Exams
What is Axiom Exams?
Axiom Exams provides teacher-designed diagnostic assessments to support children preparing for 7+ and 8+ school entrance examinations.
Our assessments are designed to help parents understand their child’s current strengths and identify areas where further development may be beneficial.
Following completion of an assessment, parents receive a personalised diagnostic report and workbook with recommendations tailored to their child’s performance.
Who designs the assessments and prepares the reports?
Axiom Exams assessments are designed by a qualified primary teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with experience in teaching and supporting children preparing for school entrance examinations.
Each assessment is carefully designed to assess key skills commonly required for 7+ and 8+ preparation. Reports are personalised based on each child’s individual responses and performance.
Is there a pass mark?
No. Axiom Exams assessments are diagnostic rather than pass/fail examinations. Your child’s performance is considered across the individual skills assessed, allowing us to identify strengths and areas where further development may be beneficial.
7+ and 8+ entrance examinations vary between schools, including the skills assessed, question formats and levels of competition. For this reason, an Axiom Exams score should not be interpreted as a prediction of whether a child will pass a particular school’s entrance examination.
The Assessment
What age group are the assessments suitable for?
Our assessments are designed to support children preparing for 7+ and 8+ school entrance examinations.
The most appropriate assessment will depend on your child’s age, stage of preparation and the requirements of the schools they are considering. If you are unsure which assessment is appropriate, please contact us and we will be happy to help at hello@axiomexams.co.uk.
What subjects are included?
Our assessments cover a range of skills commonly assessed as part of 7+ and 8+ entrance examinations, including:
- English
- Mathematics
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
- Listening and Dictation, where included in the assessment purchased
- Writing
The subjects included will depend on the specific assessment selected. Please check the individual assessment description for full details.
How long does the assessment take?
The assessment duration depends on the assessment purchased.
The estimated completion time is provided with the assessment instructions. We recommend that children complete the assessment in a quiet environment where they can concentrate without unnecessary distractions.
Should my child complete the assessment independently?
Yes.
For the most accurate diagnostic feedback, your child should complete the assessment independently and answer the questions to the best of their ability.
Parents may provide help with technical issues or instructions where necessary, but providing answers or significant assistance may affect the accuracy of the results.
Is this an official school entrance examination?
No.
Axiom Exams assessments are independent diagnostic assessments designed to support preparation for 7+ and 8+ school entrance examinations.
They are not official school entrance examinations and cannot guarantee admission or success in any particular entrance examination.

Are assessments and consultations always available?
Axiom Exams services are subject to availability. While we aim to provide access promptly, assessment reviews, personalised reports, workbooks and consultations are only confirmed once availability has been checked and the service has been accepted.
Reports
What will my child’s report include?
Your child’s personalised diagnostic report may include:
- Assessment scores
- Areas of strength
- Areas requiring further development
- Preparation Guidance
The aim of the report is to provide a clear picture of your child’s current performance and help identify where future preparation may be most beneficial.
How long does it take to receive the report?
Once your child has completed the assessment, we review and analyse their responses before preparing their personalised report.
We aim to send completed reports within 3 working days of the assessment being completed, or the final assessment completed if multiple have been purchased.
Will the report tell me whether my child will pass an entrance examination?
No.
A diagnostic assessment can provide valuable insight into your child’s current performance and preparation needs, but no assessment can guarantee a particular examination outcome.
Entrance examination results can be influenced by many factors, including preparation, confidence, timing and individual circumstances.
Parent Consultations
Do you offer parent consultations?
Yes.
Parents may book an optional 45-minute consultation to discuss their child’s assessment feedback, preparation questions and possible next steps.
The consultation is available separately from the assessment and is priced at £80 subject to availability.
What happens during the consultation?
The consultation provides an opportunity to discuss questions such as:
- Which areas should my child focus on?
- How should we approach preparation?
- How can we support progress at home?
- What might be appropriate next steps?
Consultations are guidance sessions based on the information available and are not formal school entrance examinations or a replacement for ongoing tuition.
Consultations are conducted by a qualified primary teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
